New Installation Package - 2.5.3 Rev1

We have a new Installation Package,
Besides of reducing its size from 990K to 770K, introduces more control over the changes the install will create in your computer. Now the user can decide what to do.

Today ABS 2.5.3 RC1 is out! You can get a copy from http://gofile.me/28SxZ/nWwndEOm (link will expire in a month)

Known Issues
ABS will search for updates every minute! This can be deactivated from the menu.
Re-Sync profile is not 100% implemented.
The menu is there but not enabled yet.
We tested the installation in windows XP and seems to work. We still need to test it in Vista, and Win 7.

Best Regards,

Bug Discovered - FIXED 2.5.3 rev1

Hello,
We have made some progress developing 2.5.3, while doing so discovered and fixed a bug.

Pre-requisites: Backup destination target something like F:\ or E:\, or anything in the root. Delete files option activated.
Behavior: ABS will backup all folders but delete all files. The root path was confusing ABS to think file was deleted from source; therefore, deleting ALL files from destination.

Problem Fixed now this should not happen anymore. It is HIGHLY recommended to upgrade to 2.5.3.

News/Enhancements from the new Build.
  • New menu Re-Sync profiles: now users will be able to re-sync source and destination. This for always on destination/source should not be necessary. However, network locations and USB should definitively need to be re-sync time-to-time.
  • Crash plan is already implemented/working! This will work in conjunction with the aforementioned. If ABS crashed, then source and destination will be re-sync and no need to start backup from scratch.

ABS R&D is active again!!!

ABS 2.5.3 is close to be released

We're so happy to share some news about 2.5.3 (candidate). introducing several improvements over GA 2.5.1.
  • New context menu functionality, more internal DLL streamlined/improved yielding an even smaller overall size. More flexibility to activate/deactivate automatic updates.
  • More importantly, ABS will have a crash plan procedure now! If the backup gets interrupted by a crash or laptop runs out of battery! ABS will recognized the last profile ABS was working on, and there will be no need to start the backup from the begging again!!!
  • Now ABS will have a re-sync capability to update .scn files and update any file copied or not copied and not being recorded/logged in the .scn. This is a huge improvement as we identify the .scn could potentially get out of sync (Source and Destination); hence, destination folder will not be a perfect image/backup of the source directory.
